how common is the word "mate"? i know it's a huge stereotype but is it kind of true of australians? great blog, by the way!

Pretty common. I think it is definitely one of the most true stereotypes of Australia. You don’t hear us saying a lot of slang people think we say, but you do hear a lot of ‘mate’ being said.

You can take your pick out of which you hate more.

Or you can be me and just hate them both. That works too.

Also an Australian Problem.

I am Australian and I have never heard “donga” before. I have also never heard someone say ‘crikey’ unless they are being ironic and imitating what Australians are stereotyped as.

I have however, heard a whole lot of ‘Shiiiit’ ‘Faaaaaack’ and ‘Cunt’ though.

Forever the best song.

This is:

a. Brilliant.

b. Accurate. We do indeed chill with Koalas. My pet Koala is sitting next to me nuzzling my arm as I type this.

c. Accurate. I kinda do want to be Canadian, Please. If I wasn’t Australian, I’d want to be Canadian.
